The Fix

Seven things quietly costing you calls.

None of this is about taste. Every item below is something a stranger with a phone runs into in the first ten seconds — and every one of them is fixable. Here's the list, roughly in the order it costs you money.

Your phone number is a scavenger hunt

On a phone it sits in the footer, four scrolls down — or it's baked into an image, so there's nothing to tap. You've never noticed, because you've never had to look yourself up.

Most of your traffic is someone standing in a driveway holding a phone. If calling takes more than one tap, they call whoever is next on the list.

What we do

Tap-to-call in the header, in the thumb zone, on every page — and the number set as real text so the phone recognises it as a number.

You're not in the map pack

Search your trade and your town. Three businesses appear in a block next to a map. If you're not one of them, you're below the fold before anyone has scrolled.

That block takes the majority of clicks on local searches. Everything under it is competing for what's left over.

What we do

Google Business Profile built out properly — categories, service areas, hours, photos, Q&A — and then kept current. It's a checklist, not luck.

Your reviews stopped two years ago

Eleven reviews, 4.2 stars, most recent one from 2023. None of them answered — including the one bad one that now sits there unchallenged.

Recency reads as "still open, still good." A stale review page lands worse than no reviews at all, and an unanswered complaint is the first thing people read.

What we do

A request that goes out after every job, and every review answered — the good ones briefly, the bad ones properly.

It takes six seconds to load on a phone

It's quick on your laptop, on your own wifi, which is the only way you've ever tested it. On cell service, halfway through a workday, it isn't.

A large share of visitors leave before three seconds. You're losing people who already decided to look you up — the warmest traffic you get.

What we do

Properly compressed images, no page-builder bloat, and a load target measured on a mid-range phone over cell service — not on a desktop.

Every plan

Every photo is someone else's work

Stock photography throughout — a kitchen you didn't build, a cut you didn't do, a truck that isn't yours.

People clock it faster than you'd think. The one advantage you have over a franchise is that your work is genuinely yours, and stock photos throw it away.

What we do

Real photography and short-form video of your actual jobs, shot on a schedule so the well never runs dry.

The site suggests you might have closed

© 2021 in the footer. A blog that stops mid-2022. A feed with nothing since spring. Individually small; together, a pattern.

A dead feed is the fastest way to make someone assume you've gone under and move on — and they'll never tell you that's why.

What we do

Posting handled on a schedule, and the site itself updated as the business changes, so nothing on the page is ever older than the business.

Growth

There's no obvious next step

"Contact us," and a form with nine fields. No prices, no availability, no way to book — just an invitation to start a conversation from scratch.

Interest cools fast. Every extra step between wanting you and reaching you costs a share of the people who were ready.

What we do

One clear action per page — book, quote, or call — matched to how your trade actually sells. Booking links for beauty, quote builders for trades.

Want yours pulled apart?

Send your site and your town. You'll get a short written teardown against the seven points above — what's costing you, and what I'd do first. No pitch attached: if you want help afterwards the plans are there, and if you don't, you've still got the list.
